Cake Bites in School Colors

Last weekend I volunteered and attended one of my favorite annual fundraisers at the kids' school:  Basket Bingo!  It's a really fun event - 20 bingo games where the prizes are themed Longaberger baskets filled with tons of goodies.  There are always lots of great door prizes, and a 50/50 drawing that always goes really high!  This was my sixth year going to the event - I chaired it twice - and the streak of NOT WINNING is still alive.  My table was very lucky, and almost everyone won something . . . all in all, a fun night, and as for winning, there's always next year!

One of the best parts of the event is the potluck dinner.   There is always a huge variety of fun appetizers, salads and of course desserts.   My contribution this year was a tower of cake bites - I made my favorite  double chocolate and yellow cake in school colors of yellow and blue.   Several people who had given up chocolate for Lent were really happy to see the yellow ones :)

My first donation customer (thanks Mom)!

My mom broke her wrist in December, and after weeks and weeks in a cast, she went through a course of physical therapy to help regain strength.   She really liked the women at the physical therapy office, and asked me to make a tray of goodies to thank them for taking such good care of her.   I made a tray of double chocolate cake bites with multi-colored sprinkles and packaged it up for her.

Although I would have done it for free (gotta take care of the people who take care of Mom!!), my mom wouldn't hear of it . . . she made a donation to my Susan G Komen 3 Day fundraising account.

If you are reading this, and you have someone you'd like to thank . . . think about ordering some cake bites and make someone's day :)

cookies for a cause

My old friend Alicia had a fundraiser last weekend and asked for donations for her bake sale.    Alicia is an amazing person who donates many days of her time to a variety of causes, and I had to take the opportunity show her my appreciation!

Her fundraiser was a Mardi Gras theme . . . purple for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, green for St Judes Childrens Research Hospital, and yellow for Donate Life (beadonor.org).    I whipped up a few dozen ribbon cookies in those colors.  Hope they brought in some cash at the bake sale!
